Workplace injuries account for a large percentage of hospital visits in California. Even with the strictest safety standards, workplace injuries still occur. To protect themselves, individuals should know what types of risks they face in the workplace. Here are three common workplace injuries.

Harmful substances or environments

Exposure to harmful substances or environments are at the top of the list of workplace injury risks. Some types of injuries related to harmful substances or environment include exposure to radiation and noise, exposure to electricity, and air and water pressure change. But, there are other types of substance and environment issues that can increase the risk of workplace injuries.

Overexertion

Overexertion and bodily reaction can also lead to workplace injuries. Many individuals don’t realize they’re overexerting themselves until an injury occurs. Overexertion and bodily reaction can cause impact injuries from things like lifting, pushing, and carrying. Microtasks can cause repetitive motion injuries like strains and sprains. Carpal tunnel syndrome is a type of repetitive motion injury.

Slips, trips, and falls

Workplace accidents related to slips, trips, and falls can happen at any time. These kinds of accidents can cause serious work-related injuries. Three types of injuries include slip and trips without falling, falling on the same level, and falling to a lower level.

Slip and trip injuries happen when an individual slips and trips but catches themselves before they can fall. Injuries from falling on the same level happen when an individual falls onto the same level where the accident occurs. Injuries that involve falling onto another level happen when an individual falls off or through something, landing on another level.
